Stop The Sales Tax Hike May 21

STOP THE SALES TAX HIKE MAY 21

To my Osceola County Commissioner:

WHEREAS: The referendum supporting the tax hike does not require the new funds to be spent on roads; and

WHEREAS: Instead, it can be used for any transportation project, including sidewalks, nature trails, bike paths, Lynx, SunRail; and

WHEREAS: Higher taxes will hurt hard working families and those living on a fixed income; and

WHEREAS: Even a small tax increase will have a dramatic increase on the local cost of living;

THEREFORE: As your constituents we demand that you oppose any new tax and fee increases.

To my Osceola County Commissioner:

WHEREAS: Osceola County's bloated budget includes multiple examples of waste; and

WHEREAS: Higher taxes will hurt hard working families and those living on a fixed income; and

WHEREAS: Government structure, cronyism, waste, fraud, and abuse, are the cause of inadequate services, NOT lack of funding; and

WHEREAS: Even a small tax increase will have a dramatic increase on the local cost of living;

THEREFORE: As your constituents we demand that you oppose any new tax and fee increases.

    Why are we raising the Sales Tax to improve traffic when you’re still taking in Toll Fees long after the agreed duration & no one knowing where those money go to? Find those money & use it to improve traffic! And it would be nice if you would also stop collecting them since they’re way past the time to be collected! Lol.

    Sun rail was supposed to be self supporting and there is no set amount for our roads which by the way are already behind schedule and. Above budget and in two years they will raise taxes anyhow

    As a long time small business owner in Osceola County i vehemently oppose an more sales tax. It will effect small businesses as customers will sooner buy from Neighboring counties that have lower taxes which is all of them. Osceola’s sales tax is already higher than most. BTW, it’s not a political thing as I am not a Republican. I am an independent but this tax makes no sense.

    This “one-cent tax” will over tax the part of Osceola County residents who are already over taxed. Vote no!

    What about the tax money you are getting from all the new homes and apartments. That should be enough to fix the roads and a lot more.

    Adding a one cent tax to Osceola County’s sales tax, for the next thirty years, is just plain wrong. Most salaries are very low in Osceola, so why over-burden the middle to lower-middle-class families with this tax hike? Employers certainly don’t give people cost-of-living increases any more, so how are Osceola residents supposed to absorb this extra expense into their budgets? There should be NO one cent tax hike or the a property tax hike, which was threatened, to pay for “generic” Department of Transportation issues! Instead, Osceola County should do better budgeting with the tax money that they are already collecting in our highly populated county!

    I could not agree more! No new taxes! Be a better steward of what you already have and stop wasting the hard-earned dollars that we already send you. A slick marketing campaign with deceitful wording and an implied threat of higher property taxes is not going to deflect from the administrative incompetence that is really behind our transportation and road problems.

    Our local government needs to manage the money better, and stop deceiving people with the way the vote card is worded.

    They should be ashamed.
